At LSF Wholesale, we’re proud to stand with the NFU in supporting Back British Farming Day on Wednesday, 11th September. This year marks the 9th anniversary of the NFU’s campaign.

What is Back British Farming Day?

The Back British Farming Day campaign, held every September, unites British farmers and growers to highlight the vital role farming plays in supporting the environment, economy, and our well-being.

We are honoured to work alongside the National Farmers Union to create a classic buttonhole, handmade from our very own British-grown wheat. These buttonholes will be worn by members of the NFU, MPs, and even the Prime Minister in the Houses of Parliament to show their support for British farmers and growers on this important day.

Why Support British Farming?

  • Environmental Impact: Choosing British-grown produce reduces the carbon footprint linked to food transportation. For example, a study by the NFU found that British beef has a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to imported beef.
  • Quality and Standards: British farmers are renowned for their high standards of animal welfare, food safety, and sustainable practices, ensuring that consumers enjoy high-quality, nutritious food.
  • Rural Communities: British farming is a lifeline for rural communities, providing jobs and preserving the beauty of the countryside, contributing to local economies.
  • Economic Benefits: The British food and farming industry contributes over £120 billion to the UK economy and supports around 4 million jobs.

How Can You Support British Farming?

  • Choose British: Whenever possible, opt for seasonal, British-grown produce. Look for the Red Tractor logo, which guarantees that the product is traceable, safe, and farmed with care.
  • Reduce Food Waste: Minimising food waste supports sustainable farming practices and reduces the environmental impact of food production.
  • Support Local Farmers: Visit farmers’ markets, buy directly from local producers, or subscribe to community-supported agriculture (CSA) programs.

LSF Wholesale: A Proud British Flower Farm

At LSF Wholesale, we grow a variety of flowers on our Shropshire farm, handpicking and drying them onsite to create biodegradable confetti and dried flower bunches. Our British dried flowers are extremely popular due to their longevity, lower carbon footprint, and zero maintenance. Our flower fields also serve as a haven for wildlife, especially pollinators, during the summer months.
